The jazz trumpeter and his band played an eight-song set before a sell-out crowd of 1,100 at Pick-Staiger Concert Hall, where he offered a brief lecture on jazz culture before the final song. Marsalis ’09 H returned as Commencement speaker in 2009.

In a three-hour A&O-sponsored concert at McGaw Hall, Costello thrilled the 6,200 fans in the audience with his hits “Alison,” “Veronica” and “Pump It Up.” But the highlight of the night was a duet with guest performer Nick Lowe.

  • #NUstalgic - Fabulous show and, yes, the duet with Nick Lowe was great but, ironically, of all the selections @ElvisCostello failed to play was “Girls Talk” with his old Stiff Records buddy. So glad DMcM is in stronger health. — @BillFigel
