When Rachel Yihui Lin became NU Club of Beijing president in 2023 — after serving on its board for seven years — she took the helm of an active group whose 1,100-plus members span generations and hold degrees from a variety of Northwestern programs.
The Northwestern Alumni Association is celebrating the 10th anniversary of its mentorship program, which provides valuable support and guidance to students and alumni as they navigate their careers, explore new industries or consider graduate school.
Terry Jacobson ’69, ’74 MS and Morrene Panitch Jacobson ’69 In retrospect, it was fortunate that I was unable to get campus housing until my second quarter at Northwestern. Terry and I met in September 1965 in the Men Off Campus (MOC) lounge in Scott Hall.
A health crisis motivated Victor Su and Patricia Kou to help expand Northwestern’s speech and language services to a wider community. Their gift establishes the Su Family Community Impact Fund, which will support the Roxelyn and Richard Pepper Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders and create a scholarship fund for undergraduate students in the McCormick School of Engineering.
As president of the El Pasoans Fighting Hunger Food Bank (EPFH), Stuart Schwartz '76 has been fighting an uphill battle to get food to everyone who needs it. The COVID-19 crisis has led to a dramatic increase in food insecurity, and Schwartz and his team are working tirelessly amid staffing, supply and distribution challenges so that no one goes hungry during the pandemic.
Northwestern alumni and faculty were well represented at the 62nd annual Grammy Awards. The all-alumni quartet Third Coast Percussion was nominated for the second time, for best chamber music/small ensemble performance for Perpetulum (the group won the award in the same category in 2017).
